As of January 1, 2022, a vast majority of 501 members have made the move from Equifax’s CaseBuilder to Thomas & Company’s SHIELD, and only a few dozen have yet to finish the process. We expect 99% of members to complete the transition by January 31, 2021.
Please be aware: CaseBuilder will no longer be available to 501 members after January 31st. All claims will need to be managed via SHIELD beyond that point.
If your organization has yet to complete your new power of attorney (POA), please contact us IMMEDIATELY so that we can prevent any gap in your claims processing.

Here is what some of you are saying about the new claims system – SHIELD.
“I have to say I like the portal. It is definitely an improvement from the portal that we were previously using.”
“I do find SHIELD easier to use and I like the discussion feature. I have used it to answer a question already and find it quick and convenient. I have watched some of the training videos and they are very helpful.”
“I’ve just had to do one claim so far since we changed over and I was really happy with it. Much more intuitive, offered reasons that made a lot more sense. So far, no complaints!”
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this transition. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at transition@501c.com.
